Taijuan Walker dealt with some shoulder stiffness before exiting his Saturday start after four innings.

It sounds like a very minor issue, and Walker said he expects to be fine for his next start. However, the Phillies do have Ranger Suárez almost ready to replace him in the rotation. Walker has been a great surprise in allowing just five earned runs over 19 2/3 innings to date, but he’s still the only candidate for a demotion in the Phillies rotation.

Taijuan Walker was lifted after four innings of one-run ball against the Marlins on Saturday.

We’re guessing some sort of ailment was involved here, but the Phillies didn’t say anything about it during the game. Walker had walked three batters, but he was at just 56 pitches when he was replaced by Matt Strahm.

Taijuan Walker gave up six runs — four earned — in five innings Monday in a loss to the Giants.

All of the runs came in the second, and Walker made things a whole lot worse then by throwing a potential double-play ball into center field with one out and only one run in. Walker did well afterwards, allowing just one hit over his final three innings of work, but the damage was done. He’ll get the Marlins next.

Taijuan Walker allowed no runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Braves on Wednesday.

Walker also walked three and struck out five, but needed 94 pitches to get 14 outs. He posted a 21 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW and only had his sinker perform as a consistently solid offering on the night. We know that Walker hasn’t allowed a run yet this season, but he doesn’t look that inspiring on the mound and is a risky bet against the Giants next week.
