Marlins sent LHP Sean Nolin outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Nolin passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment earlier this week. The 33-year-old lefty will remain with the Marlins as extra organizational pitching depth.

The Marlins needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for Bryan Hoeing to start on Tuesday, and Nolin was the odd-man out. The 33-year-old southpaw appeared in just one game with the Marlins -- allowing six runs on seven hits over his three innings of work.

Nolin provides the Marlins with some extra left-handed relief depth heading into Monday's series opener against the Braves. The 33-year-old southpaw was acquired earlier this month in a trade with the Twins after spending last year with the Kia Tigers of the Korea Baseball Organization. He last appeared in the majors during the 2021 campaign when he made a career-high 10 appearances (five starts) for the Nationals.

Nolin gives the Marlins some extra starting pitching depth in the upper minors at Triple-A Jacksonville moving forward. The 33-year-old lefty signed a minor league contract with the Twins back in February after spending last year with the Kia Tigers of the Korea Baseball Organization, finishing with a 2.47 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 108/24 K/BB ratio across 124 innings (21 starts). He made a career-high 10 appearances (five starts) for the Nationals during the 2021 campaign.
