Alcantara just has to pitch well enough for a contender to trade for him before the deadline. Alcantara is set to face the Rays at home next weekend. Hard to trust someone who can’t even pitch his way past the 2025 White Sox, but if you believe in the underlying stats, Alcantara will turn it around any start now.

The 29-year-old right-hander ends the day with an 8.31 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, and a 19/17 K/BB ratio across 26 innings.

Alcantara got his first quality start of the year, but it was the bare minimum. He allowed five hits, walked two and struck out four. The former Cy Young winner has a 6.56 ERA and a 17/12 K/BB through 23 1/3 innings over five starts, and he’ll have to take on the Dodgers next.
