The investigation into Dyson's conduct began back in November of 2019 after his ex-girlfriend, Alexis Blackburn, alluded to domestic violence incidents involving an unnamed person. Dyson, 32, is currently a free agent.

The league began the investigation after Dyson's ex-girlfriend wrote about the alleged incident on social media. Dyson is already expected to miss most of all of the 2020 campaign as he recovers from shoulder surgery and could now be suspended on top of that, depending on the results of the investigation.

The 31-year-old underwent shoulder surgery in September and is expected to miss most or all of the 2020 season. Prior to the injury, Dyson recorded a 3.32 ERA and career-best 1.06 WHIP in 62.1 innings with the Giants and Twins last season. The right-hander showed that he can still be an effective middle reliever in 2019, but it's unclear whether a team will take a chance on him after he had surgery on his throwing shoulder.

Dyson could miss the entire 2020 season and his career could be in jeopardy with this type of surgery. The Twins traded for Dyson in July to not only bolster their bullpen for this season, but next year as well, so this will impact their offseason plans.
