2025 Player Outlook

While fantasy managers will appreciate Perez's dual-eligibility, his fantasy output is best maximized behind the dish. He's swatted 23+ home runs in four straight seasons, and his 2024 season was the closest he's been to his magical 2021 season. Fantasy managers in OBP leagues are likely very well aware of his 6.7 percent walk rate, as that was far and away the best mark he's posted in the last decade. Health willing, your "catcher" will play in 140+ games for the third straight season, and the sheer number of ABs from Perez in an intriguing Kansas City lineup makes him a top five fantasy catcher itself. Despite his age, expect another 25+ homer campaign with 85+ RBI.

Perez is back at DH and batting cleanup on Sunday afternoon at Camden Yards following a brief two-game absence due to left hip soreness. It doesn’t appear to be a serious concern moving forward. The 34-year-old ironman has gotten off to a frosty start this season, hitting .237/.280/.381 with two homers and 16 RBI through 31 games.

Salvador Perez (hip) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Orioles.

Perez will sit out his second straight game after making an early exit from Thursday’s game against the Rays with left hip soreness. The 34-year-old ironman rarely misses any action, so it’s notable that he’s getting some extra time off to rest and recover. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. It’ll be Freddy Fermin handling the catching duties in his absence.

Salvador Perez (hip) is not in the Royals’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Orioles.

Perez was removed from Thursday’s game due to left hip soreness. The Royals don’t think that it’s going to require a trip to the injured list, but they’re concerned enough about him getting behind the plate that they added Luke Maile to the roster as insurance on Friday. The 34-year-old backstop is considered day-to-day and could be available to pinch hit on Friday night.

Salvador Perez left Thursday’s game against the Rays with left hip soreness.

Perez went 1-for-3 with an RBI double before exiting. It’s worth noting that he left in a game that the Royals were winning handily, so it’s possible this is a precautionary measure. Still, Perez will likely undergo testing, and his status for the weekend should be updated shortly.
