Yankees sent RHP Ryan Weber outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Weber figures to wind up electing free agency after being removed from New York’s 40-man roster as part of their offseason roster crunch. The soft-tossing 33-year-old righty pitched well last year in eight relief appearances for the Yankees and should be able to find a new opportunity somewhere else as emergency pitching depth.
Yankees transferred RHP Ryan Weber from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Weber landed on the injured list last week with a right forearm strain and will be sidelined until August, at the earliest. The procedural move opens up a spot on New York's 40-man roster.
Yankees placed RHP Ryan Weber on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm strain.
It's not exactly clear when Weber sustained the injury -- or how long he'll be sidelined for. Nick Ramirez was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take his place in the Yankees' bullpen.
Ryan Weber was credited with his second career save after pitching a scoreless 10th against the Reds on Saturday.
His previous save was of the three-inning variety, coming in a 14-1 Yankees victory last July. The veteran swingman shouldn't be much of a threat for additional saves.
