Ryan Weathers (forearm) faced hitters on Tuesday in a live batting practice session.
Weathers showed a ton of promise last year when he posted a strong 3.63 ERA over 16 starts for the Marlins. The 25-year-old southpaw is working his way back from a left flexor strain and should be ready to kick off a minor league rehab assignment in the coming weeks. He appears on track to make his season debut by the end of May.
Ryan Weathers, on the IL with a strained left forearm, is throwing a bullpen session on the field Tuesday.
It seems ambition, but Weathers is hoping to rejoin the Marlins rotation in the first week of May. He’s due to throw a couple of more bullpens before facing hitters and going on a rehab assignment.
Marlins placed LHP Ryan Weathers on the 15-day injured list with a left flexor muscle strain.
Weathers was diagnosed with a forearm strain back on March 20th, so this move is just procedural at this point. He is set to miss at least four-to-six weeks, so we’ll need to check in on his progress in a few weeks to have a better idea of when he will return.
Ryan Weathers has been diagnosed with a left forearm strain.
Weathers reported discomfort in his forearm Tuesday according to Marlins pregame host Stephen Strom, and testing revealed the strain. He’ll be shut down for 10-14 days from throwing, and the timeline for Weathers to return is 4-6 weeks. Weathers has flashed as a potential fantasy option in his short career, but yet another injury will set back the 25-year-old to begin the 2025 season.
