Mountcastle has been hitting the ball well this season with the best exit velocities he’s ever had, but this is his first home run of the season. He plays most games for Baltimore, but is not an everyday player and hits near the bottom of the lineup, so he might need a trade to put together shallow league fantasy value.

It was a nice outing for Mountcastle, who has been on the bench for a few games against right-handed pitchers lately despite slashing .324/.342/.441 on the season. Mountcastle has also posted a significantly faster bat speed so far in the 2025 season and has already hit the two hardest balls of his career. Trade rumors are circulating the 28-year-old and perhaps he would be better served by being moved to a place where he could play every day, but he could be in for a strong season if he remains healthy.

Mountcastle has started the season just 2-for-13, but he has a 115.7 mph batted ball and a 116.7 mph batted ball in that time, which are the two hardest hit balls of his career. His bat speed is also two mph faster than what he registered in 2024 and some of the fastest recorded bat speeds in baseball this season. With the Orioles also moving the left field fences in this season, Mountcastle could be in for a big year.
