Angels released INF Richie Martin.
The 29-year-old infielder had been in Angels’ camp as a non-roster invitee, but he’s now free to explore other options. It’s unclear if he has something else lined up with another team — or perhaps overseas — but we should hear more in the coming days.
Angels signed INF Richie Martin to a minor league contract.
Martin last appeared in the big leagues during the 2022 season when he got into 13 contests for the Orioles. The 29-year-old former first-round pick from the 2015 MLB Draft simply hasn’t hit enough to merit consideration as an everyday option at the highest level. However, his defensive versatility might give him a shot to make it back to the majors in a bench role with Los Angeles.

Martin spent his spring training in Reds' camp, but he was released at the end of March after he failed to make the big league club. The 28-year-old will add middle infield depth for the Nationals at Triple-A Rochester.
