Ramón Urías went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-4 win over the Yankees on Wednesday.
Urías’ second inning home gave the Orioles an early lead that they would never relinquish despite some shaky moments from their bullpen. There’s been a constant public outcry from the fantasy baseball community against Urías’ playing time over some highly regarded prospects during the past years, but he’s been one of the most productive bats in Baltimore to this point in the season with a .757 OPS.
Ramón Urías finished 3-for-4 with a homer in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Tigers.
Maybe the Orioles’ second-best player to date, Urías is batting .340/.403/.434 in 62 plate appearances, and he’s stealing away Ryan Mountcastle’s playing time against righties. He probably doesn’t have any mixed-league value himself — he’s a zero in steals and he doesn’t typically hit for average — but he’s making an impact by cutting into the value of others.
Ramon Urías is back in the lineup for Thursday’s Grapefruit League game against the Yankees.
Urías has been out of action since Saturday because of hamstring soreness, but the 30-year-old’s absence was just precautionary.
Ramon Urías is day-to-day with hamstring soreness.
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters that he’s not concerned and expects Urías to return to the lineup soon. The 30-year-old is expected to occupy a versatile backup infield role on Baltimore’s bench to open the year.
