Klein will be able to sign with any team following his release from the Phillies. He will be a solid add by a team in need of a middle reliever, although his best years are behind him at this point in his career.

He revealed his elbow issues to the team after being called up in September, and has yet to pitch in a major league game. At this rate, and given that he is nothing more than a reliever used in low-leverage situations, do not be shocked if he does not appear in another game this season.

Klein has appeared in nine games for the Phillies this season, including one start. He has put up good strikeout numbers, posting a 15:3 K/BB ratio over 13 and 2/3 innings with the big league club. He could see a spot start as the season winds down, but will most likely be used out of the bullpen.

Klein fared average at best in his Phillies debut, but the plan was to send him down along. Aaron Nola will resume his regular spot in the rotation and Klein should get a call back up to the majors later this month or in September.
