Angels released INF Phil Gosselin.
Gosselin went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week and has been cut loose by the Angels. The 33-year-old veteran journeyman has gotten into 34 games this season between the Braves and Angels.
Angels designated INF Phil Gosselin for assignment.
The veteran utility infielder was slashing just .098/.132/.137 in 53 plate appearances with Anaheim.
Phil Gosselin left Saturday's game against the Ranger after being hit in the head by a pitch.
Gosselin was able to leave on his own, but still a very scary situation. It was a 91 mph sinker from Glenn Otto. An update on his status should come before Sunday.
Phil Gosselin, starting a fourth straight game at third base, went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI against the Royals on Wednesday.
The triple was his first in the majors since 2016. It doesn't seem like Gosselin should be an upgrade over the recently DFA'd Jonathan Villar for the Angels, but he has gotten hot on occasion in his career. He's 3-for-17 in five games since the Angels claimed him off waivers for the Braves.
