Omar Infante
Player News
Tigers signed Omar Infante to a minor league deal.
34-year-old, Omar Infante, has passed his fantasy value relevance days. Last year, he had 116 plate appearances in AAA, and managed only a .209 batting average. At this age, it would be difficult to expect a return to his younger self.
Omar Infante agreed to a minor league contract with the Braves.
Infante, the almost starter of last season's All-Star game, was DFA'd by Kansas City earlier in June and apparently has found someone to take him in. Atlanta has seemingly needed middle infielders a lot this season both because of poor performance and injury, but Infante won't be up with the Braves just yet. He will first start out at Triple-A Gwinnett and try to prove that the woeful .238 AVG he carried through 1179 plate appearances for the Royals is just a figment of his imagination. Even if he gets called up, he is nowhere close to roster worthy even in deep leagues.
