Nick Martini went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in a loss to the Rays on Sunday.
We’ve seen this movie before. Martini got off to a red-hot start with the Reds last year before falling off fantasy radars. The 34-year-old is currently a regular starter against right-handed pitching, which may give him short-term value in deeper formats given his home park, but we wouldn’t recommend chasing this in most formats.
Rockies selected the contract of OF Nick Martini from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Martini has somehow beaten out top prospect Zac Veen for a spot on Colorado’s season-opening roster. The 34-year-old journeyman is a perfectly serviceable emergency stopgap option, but it’s puzzling that the Rockies are going to roll with him over Veen, which is putting it mildly. He batted .212 with five homers in 52 games last year for the Reds. Martini can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats with the exception of deeper NL-only leagues.
Rockies signed OF Nick Martini to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Martini appeared in 52 games for the Reds during the 2024 campaign, slashing .212/.272/.370 with five homers, 24 RBI, one stolen base and a 38/9 K/BB ratio over 163 plate appearances. The 34-year-old outfielder will add quality outfield depth for the Rockies, but is highly unlikely to make any sort of impact from a fantasy perspective.
Reds designated OF Nick Martini for assignment.
