Nationals announce they've declined the 2016 option on Nate McLouth and their side of mutual option on Casey Janssen.
While McLouth and Janssen were both solid players at times for Washington this past season but are no longer needed heading into the offseason. McLouth will likely be a bench option for someone as he is not an everyday caliber outfielder any more and as for Janssen, he has solid stuff but will likely only be a middle reliever as pressure situations seem to cause him trouble.
Nate McLouth continues to have soreness in his shoulder.
McLouth hasn't played in a game this season and isn't making much progress with his torn labrum. The Nationals shouldn't expect the outfielder back any time in the near future.
Nate McLouth (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
This was a procedural move for the Nationals as they just acquired relief pitcher David Carpenter in a trade with the Yankees and need room for him on the 40-man roster. It doesn't change his timetable as the club wasn't expecting him back until late July anyway.
Nate McLouth had a second MRI on his shoulder (found nothing new) and received a cortisone shot .
McClouth has stated that he is feeling better following a cortisone shot, but is still not likely to return to the Nationals sometime in May.
