Angels released 1B Miguel Sanó.

Sanó has been cut loose to pursue other opportunities after going unclaimed on waivers. The 31-year-old slugger batted just .205/.295/.313 with two homers and six RBI in 95 plate appearances over 28 games for the Angels in his first stint back in the big leagues since 2022. He batted just .045 (1-for-22) with one homer in seven games after returning from the injured list back in late June following a two-month stint on the injured list.

Angels designated INF Miguel Sanó for assignment.

Sanó's exit velocity numbers were strong after his year away from baseball, but his 38% strikeout rate left him with a .205/.295/.313 line in 95 plate appearances. There’s still the chance that he could be a net positive for a major league team given regular playing time, but his upside is pretty limited at this point.

Miguel Sanó went 0-for-3 on Friday, leaving him 1-for-22 since coming off the injured list last week.

That one hit was a homer, but he still has only two of those in 92 plate appearances for the season. At just .205/.295/.313 overall, he might be in danger of losing his spot once Anthony Rendon returns.

Angels activated INF Miguel Sanó from the 10-day injured list.

Sanó is back with Los Angeles following a two-month absence due to a left knee injury, and a bizarre setback when he suffered a serious burn after falling asleep with a heating pad on that same knee. The 31-year-old slugger has one round-tripper in 21 games this season for the Angels.
