Reds signed OF Adolfo Sanchez.
The deal is worth $2.7 million. Sanchez is is the 5th-ranked international prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, and is viewed by many to be one of the best overall hitters in this international signing class. The left-hander has the ability to hit for power to all fields and “the range, ability to get good jumps and plus arm strength potential” to stick in center field.
White Sox sent OF Micker Adolfo outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
Adolfo went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week and will remain with the White Sox as organizational outfield depth. The 25-year-old corner outfielder, who was out of minor-league options this spring, put together a strong performance in the Cactus League, but Chicago was unable to find a trade partner. There's a possibility he gets the call to make his big-league debut later this season.
White Sox designated OF Micker Adolfo for assignment.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster. It's a tough pill to swallow for Adolfo, who actually had himself a nice spring. Perhaps he'll draw interest elsewhere.
Micker Adolfo went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI in a losing effort against the Diamondbacks in Cactus League play on Saturday.
Adolfo smacked a three-run double off of Mark Melancon in the sixth inning, pulling the White Sox to within three runs at 7-4. The 25-year-old is having an impressive spring, hitting .429/.500/.810 with a pair of homers, nine RBI and a 9/3 K/BB ratio over 21 at-bats.
