2025 Player Outlook
Kopech is dealing with a forearm issue this spring and may begin the season on the Injured List. He was lights-out after coming over to the Dodgers at the trade deadline, but an unsustainable .167 BABIP and 4.2 percent HR/FB rate signal there should be some regression. Free agent additions Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates figure to get the first crack at save opportunities.

Michael Kopech (shoulder) told reporters on Thursday that he’s feeling much better and has been ramping back up.
Kopech noted that it wasn’t a specific issue with his shoulder that shelved him early in camp, it’s just that it was lagging behind where his forearm was in terms of strength early in camp. He also missed time due to an illness in early March that delayed his progress. It sounds like it’s all systems go now though and he should be ready to join the Dodgers’ bullpen at some point in April once he gets built up.
Dodgers placed RHP Michael Kopech on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement.
Kopech will require some additional time to ramp-up this spring after dealing with an offseason shoulder issue. The 28-year-old righty should operate in a high-leverage role alongside Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates once he’s ready to return.
Michael Kopech (forearm) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
Kopech is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day as he works his way back from forearm inflammation. The 28-year-old right-hander doesn’t appear to be facing a lengthy absence, but he’s going to miss some time at the outset of the year as he continues ramping up his throwing program.
Michael Kopech (forearm) played catch from the mound on Saturday with the catcher standing up.
It’s a small step, but at least Kopech is progressing in the right direction as he recovers from inflammation in his right forearm. Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Kopech is behind Evan Phillips (shoulder) in his throwing progression — and Phillips told reporters on Friday that he won’t be ready for Opening Day — so it sounds like Kopech is likely to join him on the injured list to start the regular season. Fortunately for the Dodgers, they have an unbelievable amount of depth and talent in their bullpen and will be able to get by with Phillips and Kopech shelved.
