Giants have re-signed Matt Reynolds. He was designated for assignment in September.
Giants optioned Matt Reynolds to Triple-A Sacramento.
The 31-year old reliever was optioned to make room on the roster for newly-acquired Matt Moore and Will Smith. While he has posted a 0.00 ERA through 10 2/3 innings in the minors and one inning in the bigs, there isn't a whole lot of room for a reclamation project right now. He'll be back if there's an injury or when rosters expand in September.
Giants have purchased the contract of Matt Reynolds from Triple-A Sacramento.
Reynolds was signed to a minor league contract with the Giants after the Diamondbacks released him in late March. He will now come up to the big league club to replace Josh Osich, who was placed on the 15-day DL on Thursday. While toiling through the minor leagues for the Giants, he hasn't allowed a run in 10 1/3 innings while allowing just four total baserunners between Double- and Triple-A. He will be a middle relief option for Bruce Bochy.
Diamondbacks release LHP Matt Reynolds.
A once very promising prospect that hasn't been the same since he underwent Tommy John surgery a couple of years ago. Reynolds will surely get another shot with another team, but it will come in the minors at first. He struggled mightily in Triple-A last season in 50 innings of work posting a 5.58 ERA with 43 Ks and 18 walks. He also appeared in 13 2/3 innings for the Diamondbacks, but didn't do much better there posting a 4.61 ERA with 18 Ks and seven walks.
