Just four days after Duffy was claimed off waivers by the Rangers, they have designated him for assignment. Duffy didn’t play a game with the Rangers, and has only appeared in 3 games this season of the Astros. If Duffy clears waivers he could have a role in the Rangers minor league system.

With the acquisition of Cuban infielder Yulieski Gurriel, the team needed to open a roster slot and Duffy with his 0-for-3 over three games was the victim. If he is not claimed off waivers, expect him to return to Triple-A Fresno.

Duffy could find time at either corner infield spot if Luis Valbuena or Tyler White scuffle. His path to fantasy relevancy seems long however, as he has just eight career at-bats.
