Dodgers reassigned RHP Matt Andriese, RHP Bobby Miller and INF/OF Jahmai Jones to minor league camp.
Of the three, Andriese likely entered camp with the best shot at cracking the Opening Day roster after excelling with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball in 2022. The 33-year-old hurler pitched well in Cactus League play too, hurling five shutout innings with a 0.80 WHIP and a 4/0 K/BB ratio. He'll start the year as organizational bullpen depth at Triple-A and should get a shot with the big league club before long.
Dodgers signed RHP Matt Andriese to a minor league contract.
Andriese spent last season with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball. The 33-year-old right-hander split the 2021 season between the Mariners and Red Sox, posting a lackluster 5.21 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 50/13 K/BB ratio across 48 1/3 innings (34 appearances). He'll serve as extra organizational relief depth this season for Los Angeles.
Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that Matt Andriese has signed a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball.
Andriese elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Mariners late in the 2021 campaign. The 32-year-old journeyman right-hander has pitched both in relief and as a starter at the highest level, but hasn't found much consistent success. He'll have a chance to do so in Japan for the 2022 season.

Andriese was designated for assignment on Tuesday to clear room on the roster for Matt Brash. The right-hander signed with Seattle after being released by the Red Sox in August, and pitched much better with the Mariners than he did with Boston. He will now be free to explore options for 2022.
