Prado has come a long way since making his major-league debut with the Braves in April of 2006. The third baseman played for four different teams, spending the majority of his career with Atlanta before playing his last five seasons with Miami. The former All Star in 2010 owns a lifetime .287/.335/4.12 slashline and was often praised for being an excellent leader in the clubhouse. Prado will be remembered for his consistent production year after year, playing in 1458 MLB games before calling it quits at 36 years old.

If this is indeed the end of the line for the 36-year-old, he'll wrap up a 14-year big-league career split between the Braves, Diamondbacks, Yankees and Marlins. A one-time All-Star (back in 2010), he'll finish his career with a .287/.335/.412 line, grabbing 1,542 hits and 100 homers while starting at every position in the field except catcher and center field.

Since he was reinstated from the 10-day injured list July 18, Prado has picked up only five starts and just 37 at-bats in total. The lack of steady work isn't a surprising development given Prado's status as a veteran player on an expiring deal and the rebuilding Marlins' decision to prioritize younger options. Expect Prado's action to remain limited over the final six weeks of the season while Garrett Cooper and Starlin Castro act as the Marlins' everyday options at the two corner-infield spots.

Prado was on the IL for just over a month with the strained right hamstring, the same injury that kept him on the shelf for portions of 2017 and 2018, too. The Marlins are apparently comfortable with Prado's health after he completed a six-game minor-league rehab stint, but don't expect the 35-year-old to claim an everyday role now that he's back with the big club. The rebuilding squad will continue to prioritize its younger infield options the rest of the season, limiting Prado mostly to bench duty.
