Luis Rengifo is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Pirates.
It qualifies as a surprise to see Rengifo absent from the lineup with lefty Bailey Falter toeing the rubber for Pittsburgh. Luis Rengifo is starting at third base for the Angels on Thursday and batting second.
With Yoan Moncada continuing to battle thumb soreness, Rengifo seems likely to get regular playing time at third base with Kyren Paris entering the lineup more regularly at second base. The big news here is also that Rengifo is moving up to second in the batting order today with Nolan Schanuel sliding down to sixth. If this sticks, it would be a nice boost for Rengifo’s fantasy value to hit in front of Mike Trout and Jorge Soler.
