Kyle Wright will make a rehab start for Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Wednesday.

Wright made his first rehab start on Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits, while striking out four and walking two in four innings. He got up to 60 pitches in this outing and will probably need two or three more rehab starts before the Royals consider bringing him back up.

Kyle Wright (shoulder) threw two innings earlier this week in an extended spring training game in Arizona.

Strong early-season performances by Kris Bubic and Michael Lorenzen have reduced the urgency for Kansas City to get Wright back up to full speed quickly. The 29-year-old righty will continue ramping up in Arizona and should be an option for Kansas City’s pitching staff at some point next month, if not sooner.

Kyle Wright (shoulder) threw a live bullpen session without issue on Thursday.

The session was reportedly two innings with Wright stopping and starting again. He’s in the final stages of recovery from shoulder surgery and could be soon cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. If all goes according to plan, he could be an option to join the Royals before the end of April.

Royals placed RHP Kyle Wright on the 15-day injured list.

Wright will require some additional time to ramp-up this spring in the final stages of his rehabilitation process from shoulder surgery. The 29-year-old righty dealt with a mild hamstring strain in camp, so he’s still a little behind in his throwing program. He might be an option for Kansas City by the end of April.
