Giants signed RHP Kyle Cody to a minor league contract.
Cody heads to San Francisco as extra organizational pitching depth after making 15 appearances (five starts) for the Rangers from 2020-2021.
Rangers sent RHP Kyle Cody outright to Triple-A Round Rock.
Cody doesn't have enough service time to reject the outright assignment, so he'll remain with the Rangers as organizational pitching depth. The 27-year-old righty has posted a serviceable 3.71 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 32/15 K/BB ratio across 34 innings at the big-league level since 2020.
Rangers activated RHP Kyle Cody from the 60-day injured list.
The right-hander is expected to be out until the second half of the 2022 season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder. Activating Cody from the injured list is just a transactional formality.
Kyle Cody underwent labral debridement surgery on his right shoulder on Wednesday.
The Rangers are hopeful that he'll be ready for the second half of the 2022 season, but this is obviously a discouraging development. The right-hander has been sidelined since late April when he was initially diagnosed with shoulder inflammation.
