2025 Player Outlook
Marte is coming off one of the best seasons of his career in 2024, as he slugged a career-high 36 home runs and drove in 95 runs. He is again slated to be a mainstay in the heart of the order for an above-average D-backs offense. Even if he takes a small step backwards, Marte should finish near the top of a weaker 2B position.

Ketel Marte (hamstring) resumed baseball activities on Friday
Marte remains several weeks away from returning from a left hamstring strain that sent him to the injured list last weekend, but he’s already progressed to taking ground balls and swinging in the batting cage. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters earlier this week that Marte is unlikely to return until late April or early May, even in a best-case scenario.
Diamondbacks placed 2B Ketel Marte on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
The severity of the injury remains unclear, but fantasy managers a likely to be without Marte for at least a couple weeks, even if it winds up being on the milder side. The 31-year-old second baseman was third in NL MVP balloting last year and was off to an excellent start this season, hitting .346 (9-for-26) through eight games. The interesting wrinkle here is that versatile prospect Tim Tawa is getting the call to fill his spot on Arizona’s roster. He could wind up making an impact in deeper mixed leagues.
Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters after Friday’s victory that Ketel Marte (hamstring) is likely to land on the 10-day injured list.
Oof. Marte suffered a left hamstring strain while running the bases during the first inning of Friday’s ballgame. Lovullo noted that the severity of the injury would be determined over the next couple of days, but a stint on the injured list seems increasingly likely. Garrett Hampson is the most likely candidate to fill in at second base while Marte is sidelined.
The Diamondbacks announced that Ketel Marte was removed from Friday’s contest against the Nationals due to a left hamstring strain.
Marte suffered the injury while legging out a double in the opening inning. At this stage, we don’t have any information regarding the severity of the strain or how much time Marte may stand to miss. He’ll undergo further testing and the Diamondbacks should have another update on his status as soon as more information becomes available. Garrett Hampson replaced him in the lineup on Friday and would be in line for more playing time at second base if Marte is looking at any sort of extended absence.
