Grimm passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment by the Athletics back on May 28. Grimm, 33, makes the roster after signing a minor league contract with the A's in December. He'll be a low-leverage reliever while a member of the Oakland staff. 

Grimm spent the entire 2021 season with the Triple-A affiliate of the Mariners and posted a relatively underwhelming 4.37 ERA and 1.35 WHIP across 47 1/3 innings there. The 33-year-old reliever will function as minor league depth for Oakland leading into the 2022 campaign.
