Yankees signed INF-OF Josh VanMeter to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
VanMeter, 28, spent much of 2021 and 2022 in the majors, but he was limited to 51 minor league games last year, hitting .209/.400/.354 in the Brewers system. He’ll be Triple-A depth for the Yankees at the beginning of the season.
Josh VanMeter was scratched from Thursday's lineup with leg tendinitis.
Andruw Monasterio replaced him in the lineup. VanMeter, a non-roster player, can be considered day-to-day for now.
