VanMeter, 28, spent much of 2021 and 2022 in the majors, but he was limited to 51 minor league games last year, hitting .209/.400/.354 in the Brewers system. He’ll be Triple-A depth for the Yankees at the beginning of the season.

Andruw Monasterio replaced him in the lineup. VanMeter, a non-roster player, can be considered day-to-day for now. 

VanMeter offers a ton of defensive versatility and will compete this spring for a spot on the Brewers' Opening Day roster as a super-utility specialist. The 27-year-old batted .187/.266/.292 with three homers and four steals across 192 plate appearances over 67 games last season for the Pirates.
