Jose Peraza has signed with Leones de Yucatan of the independent Mexican League.
Peraza spent last year at Triple-A Syracuse in the Mets’ minor-league system and hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2021 campaign.

While it has yet to be confirmed, the expectation is that the deal will also include an invitation to big league camp. It's not the flashy, headline-grabbing type of move that the Mets have become accustomed to this off-season, but the 28-year-old makes for a nice depth signing. He appeared in 64 games with the club back in 2021 -- slashing .204/.266/.380 with six homers, 20 RBI and one stolen base.

Peraza was released by the Yankees earlier this month after hitting only .243/.293/.374 in 63 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 28-year-old played for the Red Sox during the shortened 2020 season.
