Yamamoto made the announcement on his personal Twitter account. The 26-year-old righty didn't appear in the majors last year and was in camp this spring with the Dodgers on a minor league contract. He steps away after making 21 appearances (19 starts) in the majors since 2019.

Yamamoto didn't appear in the majors last season and has made just 21 appearances (19 starts) in the big leagues since 2019. The 26-year-old righty finished last season with the Mets, posting a pedestrian 6.00 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 57/20 K/BB ratio across 54 innings (24 appearances, six starts) across three minor league levels. He's another reclamation project for the analytically-inclined Dodgers' player development operation.
Mets sent RHP Jordan Yamamoto outright to Triple-A Syracuse.
The 25-year-old hurler was designated for assignment earlier in the week to free up a spot on the 40-man roster. He passed through waivers unclaimed though and will continue to function as additional rotation depth for the Mets at Triple-A.
Mets designated RHP Jordan Yamamoto for assignment.
The Mets needed to clear out a 40-man roster spot for lefty reliever Chasen Shreve, so Yamamoto has been jettisoned. The 25-year-old righty made two appearances (one start) last year with the Mets at the major-league level.
