Mariners signed RHP Jordan Holloway to a minor league contract.
Holloway spent last season at the Triple-A level between the White Sox and Cubs. The 27-year-old righty, who hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since making 15 appearances (four starts) for the Marlins from 2020 to 2022, will augment Seattle’s relief depth at Triple-A Tacoma to open the 2024 campaign.

Holloway exercised the opt-out clause in his minor league contract with the Cubs last week after struggling to an inflated 6.57 ERA, 1.95 WHIP and 24/12 K/BB ratio across 12 1/3 innings (12 appearances) this season for Triple-A Iowa. The 27-year-old righty, who has made 15 appearances (four starts) for the Marlins since 2020, will get an opportunity with the White Sox as organizational relief depth.
Jordan Holloway was diagnosed with a moderate right oblique strain sustained during his outing Monday.
Holloway, a non-roster invitee to Cubs camp, could miss at least a few weeks. The former Marlin will likely head to Triple-A once healthy.

The 26-year-old hurler made just one appearance with the Marlins in 2022, but overall he holds a 3.92 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 38/28 K/BB ratio across 39 innings in his major league career. Holloway has pitched both as a starter and a reliever over the past two seasons so he gives the Cubs extra depth and options depending on how they want to utilize him.
