Giants released INF Johan Camargo.
Camargo got into eight games for the Giants before being removed from San Francisco’s 40-man roster back in late August. The 29-year-old offers plenty of defensive versatility and could wind up latching on somewhere else before the regular season wraps up.

The versatile 29-year-old infielder passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra depth for the Giants at the Triple-A level. Camargo went 4-for-18 (.222) with two RBI during his brief time with the big league club.

The move creates room for Paul DeJong on the roster. Camargo, who was helping to fill in at short, played in eight games for the Giants, going 4-for-18.

The 29-year-old was just signed as a minor league free agent on Sunday after getting cut loose by the Tigers, and the Giants will immediately give him a shot to function as a reserve infielder at the big league level. He hit just .238/.295/.400 with three homers in 22 games at Triple-A Toledo before getting axed by the Tigers.
