2025 Player Outlook
Despite a drastically reduced strikeout rate, one could argue that 2024 was Taillon’s second-best season as a professional. He went 12-8 with a 3.27 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 28 starts. His 18.5 percent strikeout rate is an eyesore from a fantasy perspective, and his 7th percentile whiff rate didn’t do him any favors. He commanded the strike zone, and his 3.79 K/BB ratio was his second-best mark in the last half-decade. If he can trust his sweeper more, I believe his strikeout rate could rebound a little bit, but ultimately, he’s a pitch-to-contact guy who is going to command the strike zone and win with finesse, as he’s no longer the mid-nineties fastball guy he was earlier in his career. Taillon will be a stalwart in the rotation for Chicago, but outside of innings and a quality WHIP, he’s a bit underwhelming from a fantasy perspective, especially with a strikeout rate that figures to top out around 20 percent and ERA that should end closer to 4.27 than last year’s 3.27. Outside of the top 375-400 picks overall, you could do far worse than a guy who should win around 10 games with 150+ IP and an ERA in the low-to-mid 4s.

Jameson Taillon held the Brewers to two runs and three hits in six innings to win Saturday.
It’s rare for pitchers to wind up with more strikeouts than whiffs, but Taillon had five while generating only four missed swings today. That’s because a full quarter of his 88 pitches were called strikes, giving him a 30% CSW. Taillon moved to 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA. He seems like a weak play in mixed leagues with the Mets next on the schedule.
Jameson Taillon was outstanding in a no-decision against the Phillies on Sunday night, surrendering only one run on five hits over seven strong frames.
The right-hander struck out two batters on the evening and did not issue a free pass. He induced a ton of weak contact and kept the Phillies’ hitters off-balance for much of the evening. The only run that scored against him came on an RBI single by Trea Turner in the third inning. Taillon got just four whiffs on 88 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 20 percent. The 33-year-old hurler now boasts a 4.05 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a 26/7 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings through his first six starts on the season. He’ll take on the Brewers his next time out in Milwaukee on Saturday.
Jameson Taillon pitched five innings of one-run ball against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
There was a first-inning rain delay while Taillon was on the mound, but it probably didn’t shorten his outing at all. He allowed three hits, walked two and struck out six in the 87-pitch start. By not giving up a homer for the first time this season, he lowered his ERA from 5.40 to 4.73. He’s due to face the Phillies next time out.
Jameson Taillon fanned four batters while allowing two runs over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Monday.
Taillon allowed three hits in the contest, and he issued one free pass while firing 63-of-89 pitches for strikes. He gave up a solo homer to Fernando Tatis Jr., but he limited the hard contact for most of the contest in a solid outing against a competent San Diego lineup. Taillon still has a 5.40 ERA, but he’s pitched better than those numbers after his ugly first start of the campaign. He’ll face the Diamondbacks next weekend.
