The 30-year-old outfielder was on a minor league contract at Triple-A Omaha where he was hitting .214/.270/.357 with four homers, 13 RBI and two stolen bases in 38 games. He's always been an extremely talented player that has oozed potential, so it's likely he'll be able to find another squad willing to give him a minor league deal.

Jones was cut loose by the Tigers in October after struggling to a .170/.210/.250 batting line with 42 strikeouts across his 105 major league plate appearances this year. He's displayed some potential in the past and makes for a low-risk gamble in Kansas City.
