Angels selected the contract of INF J.D. Davis from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Davis has gone 11-for-37 (.297) with two home runs, six runs, and 11 RBI in 10 games so far this season in the PCL. He will simply be a backup at both third and first base while Yoan Moncada is on the injured list with a thumb sprain. LHP Jack Dashwood was designated for assignment to open up a 40-man roster spot for Davis.

Angels signed INF J.D. Davis to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Coming off a rough 2024 in which he hit .218/.293/.338 in 157 plate appearances, Davis will be a fallback option at third and first for the Angels. The 31-year-old is a lifetime .257/.340/.425 hitter, and while he could get back to that, his defense at third is an increasing problem, making him a fringe major leaguer.

Orioles signed INF J.D. Davis to a minor league contract.

Davis suited up for Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, so it’s a minor league deal for the 31-year-old veteran, who could wind up being an option for Baltimore at the hot corner in the near future, but only if top prospect Coby Mayo can’t get it going. He was released last week by the Yankees after batting .105 (2-for-19) in seven games for the Pinstripes.

J.D. Davis will sign with the Orioles, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

It’s unclear whether it’s a major or minor league deal, but we’re guessing the latter, since it doesn’t look like there’s room for him on the major league roster right now. Davis could contribute against lefties if given the chance.
