Astros manager Joe Espada confirmed late Monday that Isaac Paredes will bat second to open the regular season.

Isaac Paredes went 2-for-3 with a homer as the Astros’ No. 2 hitter in a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals on Friday.

Astros and 3B Isaac Paredes avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $6.625 million deal.

Astros acquired INF Isaac Paredes, RHP Hayden Wesneski and INF Cam Smith from the Cubs for OF Kyle Tucker.
