Mejia, who signed a minor league pact with the Mets back in January, hasn't appeared in the majors since the 2021 campaign. The 26-year-old righty posted an inflated 6.17 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 30/12 K/BB ratio across 35 innings (eight starts) this season for Triple-A Syracuse. He'll aim to rebuild his long-term value overseas in Japan.

Mejía has made eight starts at the major-league level over the last three seasons between the Diamondbacks and Marlins. The 25-year-old righty has been hit hard this season at Triple-A Reno, recording a bloated 9.60 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and 6/4 K/BB ratio across 15 innings (nine appearances). He should be able to latch on somewhere else as organizational pitching depth.
