Hector Olivera has been placed on administrative leave.
This is not surprising after the news we got this morning that Olivera had been arrested after getting into a dispute with a woman at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The woman called 911 and claimed she had been assaulted and had visible bruises. The Braves play their third game of a four-game series with the Nationals on Wednesday night. Olivera was taken into custody by the Arlington Police Department and is being processed.
Hector Olivera is not in Tuesday's starting lineup.
Jeff Francoeur will start in left field on Tuesday in place of Olivera as this looks to be a way to avoid having him bat against a lefty as he logged just one hit in 15 tries against LHP last season. He should be back out there on Wednesday.
Hector Olivera was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in the Braves 12 - 7 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.
Although he is a rookie, Hector Olivera has plenty of experience on the Cuban national team. As a part of the rebuilding process in Atlanta, Olivera will get plenty of time to show his value to the team this year. Olivera was 2-for-4 on Sunday with two runs scored and an RBI. He is now hitting .267 on the season but more power would be welcomed by the Braves and fantasy owners alike.
Hector Olivera has been scratched from Thursday's lineup with a left elbow contusion.
Olivera was scheduled to play second base on Thursday night, but has been scratched with an elbow contusion. Jace Peterson will now man second and bat sixth for Atlanta.
