Angels selected the contract of RHP Héctor Neris from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Neris has made a staggering 610 relief appearances in the majors dating back to 2014. The 35-year-old veteran will bolster Los Angeles’ relief corps heading into Tuesday’s series opener against the Blue Jays after signing a minor league deal a couple weeks ago.
Angels signed RHP Hector Neris to a minor league deal.
Neris elected free agency after Atlanta designated him for assignment, and has a new home a couple weeks later. The 35-year-old will likely need to pitch in a few games with Triple-A Salt Lake, but it’s not hard to see him being an option in the Angels’ bullpen in the coming weeks. Not a fantasy-relevant one, but an option nevertheless.

Neris passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment earlier this week by the Braves. The 35-year-old journeyman reliever will test the open market in search of a new opportunity. He’s made 610 relief appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2014.
Braves designated RHP Héctor Neris for assignment.
Neris was given a one-run lead in the seventh on Opening Day and took a blown save and a loss by giving up three runs. His outing Sunday was also unsuccessful, though the Braves were losing that game anyway. Obviously, he’s kind of a big name to be giving up on so quickly. Still, he was below average last year, and his stuff isn’t quite there yet right now after he signed late. He might be better equipped to retire major league hitters a month from now.
