Garcia exercised the opt-out clause in his contract and is now a free agent. The veteran infielder has a career .693 OPS over parts of seven seasons.

Garcia will report to the Phillies' alternate training site. He can opt out of the deal on May 2 if he so chooses. The 31-year-old was released by the Tigers on March 26 after he was informed he would not be a part of the MLB roster. While he has no fantasy relevance, he can certainly help the Philadelphia bench because of his ability to play all over the field.
Tigers optioned 2B Greg Garcia to Triple-A Toledo.
Garcia was granted his release earlier this week after being informed that he would not make the Tigers' Opening Day roster. Rather than attempt to latch on elsewhere, the 31-year-old infielder has apparently accepted an assignment to Triple-A Toledo, where he will serve as organizational depth this season. He can be ignored for fantasy purposes.
