Grayson Greiner has retired from professional baseball.
Greiner latched on with the Rockies in late March after failing to make the Tigers out of spring training, but he's decided to hang them up after playing 20 games in Triple-A to begin the year. The 30-year-old played in two games with the Diamondbacks last season, but he's best known for his time with the Tigers from 2018-2021 where he slashed .201/.274/.309 over 137 games.
Rockies signed C Grayson Greiner to a minor league contract.
Greiner has quickly latched on with the Rockies as extra catching depth at Triple-A Albuquerque shortly after being released by the Twins. The 30-year-old backstop appeared in two games last year for the Diamondbacks and spent the balance of the year at Triple-A Reno.
Twins released C Grayson Greiner.
Greiner was reassigned to minor league camp earlier this week and has presumably been let go to pursue a new opportunity. The 30-year-old backstop signed a minor league contract with the Twins in January after appearing in a pair of games last year for Arizona.
Twins reassigned C Grayson Greiner and David Bañuelos, RHP Oliver Ortega, INF's Elliot Soto and Tyler White and OF Ryan LaMarre to minor league camp.
No real surprises in the latest round of cuts for Minnesota as they trim their camp roster to just 39 player. Greiner and Ortega are the most likely to appear for the Twins this season.
