Germán Márquez was tagged for six runs in four innings by the Royals in a loss Thursday, dropping him to 0-4 on the season.

Márquez reached 1,000 career strikeouts today, but that was the lone highlight for the 30-year-old. He has a 9.30 ERA through five starts, only one of which has come at Coors Field. The Rockies will surely stick with him, though. He’ll make his next start at home against the Braves.

Germán Márquez recorded just two outs while being charged for seven runs in a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Márquez was handed a 1-0 lead going into his first and final inning, and it lasted just four pitches before Shohei Ohtani smashed a solo homer. He gave up another homer two batters later to Freddie Freeman, and the 30-year-old allowed four more hits and the same amount of runs before exiting. It’s hard to imagine that anyone used Márquez that didn’t have to Wednesday, but for those who did: whoops. He’ll be on the mound next week against the Royals and look to lower and unsightly 8.27 ERA.

Germán Márquez yielded four runs — three earned — while working five innings in a loss to the Athletics on Saturday.

Márquez almost literally couldn’t find the strike zone Saturday night, as he issued six free passes and threw just 48-of-89 passes for strikes. He blanked the A’s in the first three frames, but things fell apart over the next two before exiting. He was strong against the Phillies on Monday. He didn’t have nearly the same success (obviously) over the weekend. A tough matchup comes next weekend against the Padres.
