Germán Márquez was tagged for five runs in 4 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Giants.
It’s the fourth straight start in which Márquez has had more runs allowed than innings pitched. He’s now 0-6 with a 9.90 ERA, and though the Rockies certainly won’t want to make a move here, they might have no choice at some point. Márquez is due to make his next start at home against the Padres.
Germán Márquez allowed seven runs with one strikeout over 5 1/3 innings in a loss against the Braves on Tuesday.
A base hit and two doubles brought a pair of runs in to score for the Braves in the second inning. Atlanta plated three more runs in the fourth on four more hits. Márquez gave up two more runs before his day was done with one out in the sixth. He surrendered 11 total hits while striking out one. The 30-year-old right-hander now has a 9.82 ERA, 2.06 WHIP, and a 15/12 K/BB ratio across 25 2/3 innings. He’s scheduled to take on the Giants in San Francisco on Sunday.
Germán Márquez was tagged for six runs in four innings by the Royals in a loss Thursday, dropping him to 0-4 on the season.
Márquez reached 1,000 career strikeouts today, but that was the lone highlight for the 30-year-old. He has a 9.30 ERA through five starts, only one of which has come at Coors Field. The Rockies will surely stick with him, though. He’ll make his next start at home against the Braves.
Germán Márquez recorded just two outs while being charged for seven runs in a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Márquez was handed a 1-0 lead going into his first and final inning, and it lasted just four pitches before Shohei Ohtani smashed a solo homer. He gave up another homer two batters later to Freddie Freeman, and the 30-year-old allowed four more hits and the same amount of runs before exiting. It’s hard to imagine that anyone used Márquez that didn’t have to Wednesday, but for those who did: whoops. He’ll be on the mound next week against the Royals and look to lower and unsightly 8.27 ERA.
