Márquez almost literally couldn’t find the strike zone Saturday night, as he issued six free passes and threw just 48-of-89 passes for strikes. He blanked the A’s in the first three frames, but things fell apart over the next two before exiting. He was strong against the Phillies on Monday. He didn’t have nearly the same success (obviously) over the weekend. A tough matchup comes next weekend against the Padres.

Márquez left his season debut in line for an impressive road win after holding Philadelphia’s offense to just four hits over six frames, but the Rockies bullpen immediately imploded following his departure to spoil things. The 30-year-old righty has been limited to just five starts over the last two years due to injury, but he’s healthy now, and offers some appeal in deeper mixed leagues as a matchup-dependent streaming option away from Coors Field. He’s not a recommended fantasy option this weekend when he faces the Athletics at home.

Márquez settled for one strikeout, two missed swings and a 15% CSW today. The Rockies have yet to announce their rotation, but it looks like Márquez, who finished the spring with a 5.74 ERA, is lined up to start the third game against the Rays on Sunday.
