2025 Player Outlook
Despite a reduction in his ground ball rate last season, his home run issue remained stable, and he posted his second straight season with 30+ starts and a sub-3.90 ERA. His 4.16 FIP was his highest in the last half-decade, and his 27.6 percent strikeout rate was the second-lowest of his career. Despite the drop in his strikeout rate, his O-Swing% and swinging strike rate remained on par with past years, and he still boasted a healthy 87th percentile whiff rate. Slowly but surely, he’s ramped up usage on his changeup, and it was a ground ball and swing-and-miss machine last year (61.2% GB%, 36.9% whiff rate). Peralta is a tried-and-true fantasy starter and is more than capable of being your SP2 this season. If you attack starting pitching early, and Peralta is your team’s SP3, you’ll be in a great spot for 2025, as Peralta will give you solid numbers across the board, and his WHIP will drop below 1.20 if he can shave a few percentage points off his walk rate.
Player News
Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters Freddy Peralta (groin) might get an extra “day or two” of additional rest before his next start.
Peralta left Sunday’s start against the Cubs after six innings due to groin soreness and it sounds like he’s going to need some extra time before taking the ball again. The 28-year-old strikeout machine hasn’t undergone any imaging at this point to determine the severity of the issue, but that figures to be in the works. There should be some clarity on his status at some point later this week, but fantasy managers should expect his next start to be pushed back at least a couple days.
Freddy Peralta allowed four hits over six innings in the Brewers’ 4-0 shutout of the Cubs on Sunday.
Peralta struck out seven while moving to 4-2 with a 2.18 ERA. He still hasn’t allowed more than three runs in a start this season, and he’s given up that many runs only once. He’ll take on the Rays in Tampa next time out.
Freddy Peralta pitched around a pair of solo home runs on Tuesday night, defeating the White Sox to earn his third victory of the season.
The 28-year-old hurler allowed just the two runs on three hits over his six frames while walking three and striking out five. All of the damage done against him came in the first inning as Andrew Benintendi and Luis Robert Jr. smacked back-to-back solo homers. Peralta generated nine swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. Now 3-2 on the season, he boasts a 2.52 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 41/14 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings through his first seven starts. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he takes on the Cubs on Sunday.
Freddy Peralta allowed three runs over five-plus innings Wednesday in a loss to the Giants.
Peralta held the Giants scoreless over the first five innings, but he gave up three runs while not being able to get an out in the sixth. The right-hander had some signs that suggested things might go poorly, as Peralta struck out just three in the contest while just 58-of-96 pitches went for strikes. It’s tough to be too disappointed considering he still has a 2.43 ERA after this contest, but not quite what fantasy managers were hoping for. Peralta is an absolute must-start against the White Sox next week.
