2025 Player Outlook
Suarez launched 30 homers last season after coming off a down power season in Seattle the year prior. There are imminent threats to the veteran sluggers role, including top prospect Jordan Lawlar. If Suarez struggles out of the gate in 2025, he could find himself in a battle for full-time at bats.
Player News
Eugenio Suárez homered four times and drove in five runs, but the Diamondbacks fell 8-7 to the Braves in 10 innings.
It’s the first time a player has homered four times since J.D. Martinez did it for the Diamondbacks in 2017. Three of those blasts were solo shots, including the game-tying homer against Raisel Iglesias to tie the record. Per Jason Starks of The Athletic, Suárez had four homers in this game, and five singles on the season. The question now becomes when — if ever — we’ll see a five-homer game.
Eugenio Suárez went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, and two runs scored in a loss against the Braves on Friday.
Suárez hadn’t drawn a walk in over a walk before working his two free passes in this one and wound up scoring the Diamondbacks’ only two runs. Also, he made a costly throwing error in the sixth inning that allowed the Braves to lengthen their lead. Such is the ‘Eugenio Suárez experience’ though as he tries to navigate through yet another slow start to his season.
Eugenio Suárez hit his seventh career grand slam Friday against the Cubs.
Suárez’s slam off Porter Hodge started the scoring in a 10-run eighth inning for Arizona. It was his first homer since Apr. 1, when he finished a stretch that saw him hit five in his first five games. He was hitless over the rest of the contest, and his average is sitting at .153 at the moment. He has six homers, three doubles and two singles in 72 at-bats.
Eugenio Suárez’s fifth homer of the year was a grand slam off Mark Leiter Jr. in the eighth, propelling the Diamondbacks past the Yankees 7-5 on Tuesday.
That’s five homers in five games. Last year, it took him until his 62nd game on June 6 to hit his fifth homer. By that point, there was no way he was supposed to be back with the D-backs in 2025, though things have certainly turned around since. The grand slam is the sixth of his career. He used to be pretty bad in bases-loaded situations, but that’s another thing that’s turned around; he’s 9-for-19 with three homers with the bases juiced since the beginning of last season.
