Rangers release LHP Eric Surkamp and sell his contract rights to Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Surkamp was just signed by the Rangers after he was let go by the A's. It's a tough break for his contract to essentially be solid to the KBO but at least he will get some playing time which was not guaranteed with the Rangers.
Rangers claimed LHP Eric Surkamp on waivers from Oakland and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.
The Rangers put a claim in on Surkamp who was put on waivers by Oakland, and they received him through the waiver process and sent him to Triple-A. Surkamp made nine starts for Oakland this season, going 0-5 and putting up an ERA of 6.98. Opposing hitters hit .322 off of the 28-year-old this season.
Athletics designated Eric Surkamp for assignment.
After nine starts with the team, Surkamp was designated for assignment. The designation occurred because of his poor pitching. He posted a 6.98 ERA while going 0-5 over 38.2 innings. Surkamp isn't very good at all and we shouldn't expect to see much of him back in the majors anytime soon.
Athletics have optioned Eric Surkamp to Triple-A Nashville.
This comes as no surprise as Surkamp posted an ERA of 6.98, and teams hit .327 off of him in nine starts this season. He has no fantasy value.
