Ramirez doesn’t have an official return timeline, but he’s going to wind up missing most, if not all, of the upcoming season. The 34-year-old journeyman signed a minor-league pact with the Twins and was attempting to make the season-opening bullpen in a long relief role.

Ramírez is aiming for a 14th season in the major leagues. He had a 4.35 ERA in 20 2/3 innings for the Rays last year, which is nearly identical to his career mark of 4.37 in 96 starts and 231 relief appearances.

Ramirez will remain in the organization after being designated for assignment by the Rays on Saturday. The right-hander made a pair of appearances for Tampa Bay before that designation.
