2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Coming to Coors Field has been a revelation for Diaz. Over the last three seasons, he's hit at least .270 with a .437 SLG each year at home. In that same span away from Coors Field, last year's .258 average was his best over the last three years, while only slugging above .400 once (2021). Last year, he only slugged .383 with a .696 OPS on the road! His strike out rate ticked up to 22.4 percent, but the trends in his plate discipline were very concerning last season, namely a higher swinging strike rate and lower contact rates.
2024 Outlook: He's going to move down in the order compared to last year, which will hurt some of his counting stats, and Coors Field plays up his offensive numbers. His ADP has him inside the top 20 at the position, but he's not going to repeat last year's numbers, and in fact, the majority will likely be worse than last year. He's an average at best second catcher in two catcher formats, but his offensive profile isn't trending the right way.
