Rosario went 1-for-4 at the plate in a pair of contests for Los Angeles while superstar Shohei Ohtani was away from the club on paternity leave. The 33-year-old veteran outfielder figures to return to Triple-A Oklahoma City, if he passed through waivers unclaimed. He’s officially reached journeyman status at this stage of his career.

With Shohei Ohtani heading to the paternity list, Rosario will have an opportunity to show what he can do at the big league level for at least a couple of days. The 33-year-old had been hitting a blistering .339/.406/.542 with two homers, 12 RBI and three stolen bases through his first 14 games at Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Rosario, trying to return to the majors with the Dodgers or another club, is hitting .364/.420/.614 in 10 games for Oklahoma City.

The 33-year-old slugger got the scoring started in the contest with his two-run blast off of Cody Poteet in the second inning. Rosario went down on strikes in his only other at-bat, finishing the afternoon 1-for-2. He’s going to need to tear the cover off the ball in Cactus League action in order to crack a loaded Opening Day roster, so this was at least a nice step in the right direction for Rosario on Thursday.
